TOEFL

TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language is an examination geared toward students who wish to study or work in the United States or Canada. This exam examines the level of English of candidates whose native language is not English. The TOEFL is a pre-requisite for Brazilian study grants, such as CNPq or any other grant to study at an American or Canadian university.

TOEFL results do not come in the form of a certificate. It is rather a numerical result referent to the candidate's level of English. After completing the exam, TOEFL results are then sent to the university requested by the candidate, indicating the candidate's level of linguistic command of the English language. The TOEFL results are valid for a period of 2 years and can be re-taken monthly by means of the candidate's registration with ETS and the proper scheduling of the examination. See also TOEFL procedures at TOEFL official website.
