History

Todd Irwin Marshall is American and has a Ph.D. (ABD) in Luso-Brazilian Languages and Literatures from the University of North Carolina (UNC), with a specialization in Latin American Studies. He has vast experience in teaching foreign languages, having taught Portuguese to foreigners for 5 years at UNC as well as English as a foreign language (EFL) for Brazilians for more than 10 years. Todd is currently a freelance professional, teaching in a variety of areas, including Business English, English for International Law, Conversational English, American Culture and Literature, among others. Todd also offers preparatory courses for English certificate examinations, such as those administered by the University of Cambridge ESOL (FCE, CAE, CPE) and by the University of Michigan (ECPE) and by ETS (TOEFL).

Currently, one of Todd's most sought after courses is the preparatory course for the Rio Branco Institute (IRBr) – English Section. Todd is one of the only native speaker, English teachers in Minas Gerais with pertinent knowledge on the subject, together with important contacts in Brasília, such as his direct contact with Sara Walker. In addition to the traditional face-to-face format, his preparatory course for the IRBr is also available through distance learning courses via Internet.

In addition to offering courses and personalized classes, Todd also administers workshops and teacher training for English language teachers on a diversity of methods and strategies for teaching English as a foreign language.

It is easy to see that the dedication and the love for what he does emphasizes Todd's differential. Todd Irwin Marshall, therefore, is not only an English teacher, but also an Educator.
